Human Resources to implement new hiring policy:
NMSU Human Resource Services will require background reviews on new employees effective July 1, 2008. The following types of employees will be subject to a background review: (1) all new regular faculty, exempt, non-exempt and post-doctoral appointments; and (2) new student/temporary employees, including graduate assistants and teaching assistants, hired into security sensitive positions. 

NMSU personnel hired prior to July 1, 2008 are not subject to retroactive background investigations except in the following circumstances: transferred, promoted, reclassified, appointed to interim positions or hired for a security-sensitive position. Anyone following under these categories shall have their criminal and other background information verified prior to final confirmation of employment into the new position.
