Out-of-State Waivers

Waivers are applied to tuition only. The amount of the waiver varies according to current tuition rates. If you receive a waiver, you will be charged out-of-state tuition, and the waiver you receive will be applied to that amount on your student account.

3.0 GPA and 26 ACT† (3.5 cumulative college GPA for transfers).
In-state tuition rate and $100 per semester 3.5 GPA and pass 15 new credits per semester. Must 1) be admitted to the NMSU Las Cruces campus, 2) submit a Scholar Dollar$ application, 3) submit a FAFSA, and 4) have all required credentials on file by March 1.
135 Mile Texas Tuition Texas resident within 135 miles of the NMSU Las Cruces campus. First-time student requirements or 2.0 cumulative college GPA for transfers. Near in-state tuition rate. See University Accounts Receivable for exact amount. Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress. Must be admitted to the NMSU Las Cruces campus.
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Residents from participating states (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, ND, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY), and the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. 150% of in-state tuition rate
Colorado-Arizona Reciprocal Colorado and Arizona residents. In-state tuition rate

Any item in this chart is subject to modification at any time by proper administrative procedure.Typically, students are eligible for only one scholarship or out-of-state tuition waiver, except for the Conroy Merit, Conroy Achievement, and NMSU Housing scholarships.

All financial aid awards (Scholarships & Waivers), are contingent on receipt of final high school or transfer transcripts. If the final transcript does not meet the minimum eligibility requirement for any given scholarship then that scholarship will be canceled.

† ACT/SAT equivalents: 21 ACT=990 SAT, 23 ACT=1070 SAT, 24 ACT=1110 SAT, 25 ACT=1150 SAT, 26 ACT=1190 SAT, 28 ACT=1260 SAT, 30 ACT=1340 SAT. NMSU uses combined scores from the critical reading and math portions of the SAT for admission and scholarship purposes.
