Scholarships

NMSU offers various scholarships to New Mexico students, transfer students, and out-of-state students listed below.

Students are encouraged to fill out a Scholar Dollar$ application to apply for all NMSU scholarships not listed below!

Before you can use Scholar Dollar$, you need to Apply to NMSUScholar Dollar$ is open October 1st to March 1st.

Top Scholarships

These scholarships are applicable to fall and spring semesters only and are renewable for eight consecutive semesters, unless otherwise stated.

(Tuition and fees, plus stipend is renewable for 8 consecutive semesters. Housing scholarship is renewable for one semester only.)

Awarded on a competitive basis for a maximum of two semesters

Transfer Scholarships

A transferable GPA of 3.50 to 4.00

$2,500 for the year

3.5 GPA and pass 15 new credits per semester

Consecutive enrollment

Four semesters maximum or attainment of a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first

No application required, but priority will be given to students admitted by May 1
Transfer Achievement Scholarship II A transferable GPA of 3.00 to 3.49

A minimum of 36 (90 maximum) transferable semester hours

$1,500 for the year

3.0 GPA and pass 15 new credits per semester

Consecutive enrollment

Four semesters maximum or attainment of a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first

Any item in this chart is subject to modification at any time by proper administrative procedure. Typically, students are eligible for only one scholarship or out-of-state tuition waiver, except for the Conroy Merit, Conroy Achievement, and NMSU Housing scholarships.

All financial aid awards (Scholarships & Waivers), are contingent on receipt of final high school or transfer transcripts. If the final transcript does not meet the minimum eligibility requirement for any given scholarship then that scholarship will be canceled.

*The amount of the Legislative Lottery Scholarship is subject to change by the New Mexico Higher Education Department or the New Mexico Legislature.

† ACT/SAT equivalents: 21 ACT=990 SAT, 23 ACT=1070 SAT, 24 ACT=1110 SAT, 25 ACT=1150 SAT, 26 ACT=1190 SAT, 28 ACT=1260 SAT, 30 ACT=1340 SAT. NMSU uses combined scores from the critical reading and math portions of the SAT for admission and scholarship purposes.
