Changes to NMSU Scholarships

For students making plans to attend NMSU in Fall 2017, we are making many exciting changes to our institutional scholarship offerings that will greatly expand award opportunities for even more future Aggies. If you’re a continuing student, view your scholarship renewal criteria.

State-funded Merit Scholarships

These scholarships are applicable to fall and spring semesters only and are renewable for eight consecutive semesters, unless otherwise stated.

Enrollment Requirements Eligibility Requirements Award Renewal Requirements Application Materials Needed
Legislative Lottery Scholarship New Mexico resident.

High school diploma from a NM accredited school, a NM GED, or a NM-HiSET.

First semester college GPA of 2.5 and pass 15 new credits. Percentage of tuition*. 2.5 cumulative GPA and pass 15 new credits per semester. No application required.
New Mexico Scholars Scholarship 25 ACT
Top 5% of high school graduating class and qualifying family income $60K or less.
Tuition and fees, and textbook stipend. 3.0 GPA and pass 12 new credits per semester (24 credits per year). Preference given to students admitted to the NMSU Las Cruces campus and having all required credentials on file by March 1.
