Out-of-State Scholarship
New Entering Freshmen and New Entering Transfers
Enables a nonresident student to attend NMSU and pay in-state tuition and fees. The scholarship award also provides a $200 per year stipend for educational expenses. This scholarship is a competitive scholarship for out-of-state residents. Due to the limited number of scholarships available to award each year, applicants are encouraged to apply early and be admitted to New Mexico State University (by the March 1st priority scholarship deadline). Recipients must be enrolled full-time at the NMSU main campus (Las Cruces).
NEW ENTERING FRESHMEN
Requirements: 23 ACT composite score (1050-1080 SAT) and a 3.5 High School GPA OR 26 ACT composite score (1170-1200 SAT) and a 3.0 High School GPA.
Renewable: Enroll in and complete 24 new graded credit hours each academic year and 3.25 cumulative GPA. Scholarship award is for a maximum of eight semesters or until graduation, whichever comes first.
NEW TRANSFERS:
Requirements: 23 ACT composite score (1050-1080 SAT) & a 3.5 High School GPA & a 3.25 transfer GPA or 26 ACT composite score (1170-1200 SAT) & a 3.0 High School GPA & a 3.25 transfer GPA OR 3.5 transfer GPA
Renewable: 24 new graded credit hours each academic year and 3.25 cumulative GPA. Semesters of eligibility depend on total number of semesters attended at all previous institutions, for a maximum of 8 semesters or attainment of 1st bachelor's degree, whichever comes first.
Note: If you participate in this scholarship program, you are ineligible for New Mexico residency. If you wish to establish New Mexico residency, you may not begin the application process until after having discontinued the scholarship program for one full year.
** A student may only receive one major scholarship. Scholarship awards depend on availability of funds.
** All scholarships are subject to change in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations.
